Love the bike, really a pleasure to ride, and handles most grades well. I don't use the battery much, because I like to pedal, and this bike, even with only 9 gears, is fun to ride and the gear ratios work well for most situations. When you need a little help, the battery is there. Have taken several rides, some over 20 miles, and never got close to depleting the battery. Highly recommended; not good for use with a trailer though, as the rear axle was too short to accommodate the adapter. Prodeco V3 Outlaw EX 8 Speed Electric Bicycle, Charcoal Graphite Metallic, 26-Inch/One Size

I call this bike, which I purchased in April 2013, "The Beast". The review in Electric Bike is accurate but maybe I have some insights after riding one of these for several months. I'm 6'2", 235 lbs., I got an electric bike because of arthritis in my knees. The Outlaw is powerful. I looked at several, probably ten bikes, and focused on the Outlaw and the Pedego Interceptor. Both bikes are good quality and strong, I rent the Interceptor when traveling because they are more readily available. I tested the Interceptor on hills and it did pretty well but the Outlaw is considerably more powerful to get you moving quickly and to go up almost any hill. The bike is heavy in the back and you can tip, I have, so you have to be careful when riding. I can get about 15-18 miles out of a charge with fairly heavy use of the motor and some hills. The nubby tires the bike comes with are for offroad, I replaced them with tires recommended by Prodeco for street use, they are more quiet and no problems with tire deteriorating with street use. This bike is well-suited for larger, taller people with good upper body strength. Prodeco service to OK to good depending on who answers the phone. I found a local bike shop that can service the bike. The disc brakes need to be adjusted occasionally, they begin to make noises. Otherwise, there's little maintenance. I purchased mine on Amazon, they have good customer service and return policies. I hooked up a piece of Velcro so that I can keep the accelerator on all the time, the thumb accelerator control was not very comfortable and the thumb piece that you push to accelerate actually broke off (replaced for free by Prodeco). There's an on/off button so I can shut the motor off if necessary. There are some safety issues doing this but I find it works well. I don't find the key being in the motor a big problem. In short, I've been very happy with this bike, it makes me feel like a twenty year old and I love keeping up with/passing those skinny guys in the spandex official bike outfits! Because it's a large bike and I'm heavy I do try to be extra careful with other bikers and pedestrians to avoid injury of them or myself. Get an excellent lock, I paid about $100 for mine. This is the best toy I own. I have a Bum knee. This bike goes up the hills with little or no help from the pedals and is a blast in the woods, down hill bombing and on local bike paths. It is nimble and handles amazingly. I switched from off road motorcycle to the Outlaw.Great choice, tons more places to ride. The bike does not look "electric", that allows me to use local bike trails without much notice or hassle from any one. I've had this bike since Feb 2013. Built like a rock! The battery lasts long. I get about an hour and a half in the woods (12 - 15 miles, hilly), using about 50% electric and 50% human power. The battery wears out about the same time as me. My overall impression of this bike is that it is an awesome product and value. I have put on about 250 miles over a variety of terrain and am very satisfied with the quality of this bike and the range I get from the battery. This bike gets lots of comments everywhere I go with it. I would highly recommend this model to anyone looking to get an electric assist bike. I use it daily for a 32 mile round trip commute. my ride home is 16 miles of continuous uphill climb with an 1800' gain in elevation. this is a very strenuous climb on a standard bike and only the most avid cyclists make this trip. however, with the electric assist, I can get a great workout making this climb without having to be a cyclist of extreme conditioning. I was amazed that after a continuous assist of 16 miles uphill, I still had some battery charge left - especially considering that I am not a lightweight rider at 218lbs! I purchased a Prodeco Mariner, but my wife took it form me. She liked so much. So, I went back to Prodeco bikes, but went for a larger size, the Storm. At 210 lbs, I felt I needed something larger. This is one terrific bike. It's fast, very fast, well built and easy on my joints when I throttle back a little. It came fully assembled and well adjusted (brakes, etc.). I just add a little air to the tires. Prodeco V3 Stride 500 8 Speed Electric Bicycle, Pure White Gloss, 26-Inch/One Size

We ordered two of them and have been using them all the time. I can go about 12-15 miles on a charge at mostly full speed with no pedaling. The center stand works well on hard level ground, but if the ground is soft or un-level, don't rely on it. I now need to replace a brake cable do to damage from falling over on the stand. I think that I'm going to look into purchasing a more stable side stand to replace the center stand that comes with the bike. I am 66 year old XL sized male and was having difficulty using my old standard mountain bike. Hard to swing my leg over it and needed to angle it down towards me to do so, not as stable on my feet any more so this was difficult. Also my knees are not what they used to be and were easily strained with too much exertion, so I stopped riding. The step through Stride 550 eBike (I call my Elvis) solved my problems and I am riding again ... not off road which I never did but streets and occasional fire roads. Two best features: (1) I can start off in low gear with a bit of motor assist instead of pushing off and trying to get the peddling going before I lose my balance, and (2) giving it a little motor boost when I feel even the slightest pressure on my knees be it from a headwind or slight uphill. I still raise a bit of a sweat after a ten mile ride so I know I getting some enjoyable exercise in which is my main objective. And everything on the bike works! Peddling makes a huge difference if you want that extra speed or acceleration. You can ride this bike without battery assist. The Outlaw is a huge step up. I love the fact that at anytime you're tired from pedaling, you can get just a little help, or get full power help.The only thing I don't like about it is, when going up steep hills_even short ones_ you will still have to pedal hard, although putting it in a lower gear helps greatly. Of course me being 6'2" and weighing 240 pounds, puts a lot of strain on the battery when going up steep hills. I pedal a lot, so I can get almost 40 miles on non-steep hill rides.I've gone 3 hours straight without a charge, BUT REMEMBER, that is with pedaling as much as possible. I also shut off the power button when I'm not using the battery.I forgot to mention that I agree with a fellow reviewer that getting the key out of the lock position, can be difficult at times, but I seem to have the hang of it now. - Customer Reviews

I give it 5 stars because I could not find any other bike that gave me all the features I was looking for at a very reasonable price. Even for twice the price I could not find anything better. For a sturdy bike it is amazingly light, It folds well enough to fit in a trunk. While the motor is gearless and needs pedal-assist up very steep hills, it is powerful enough at 500 watt. I am glad I did not choose the smaller motor. I never used gears on a bike before and needed to get used to it, but the shifter is well designed, like every thing else on the bike. Recently a bicyclist got hit by a car from behind and killed because the motorist could not see him in the dark, so I really appreciate the great taillight built into the battery. I needed the eBike to deal with my deteriorating health at 85, and it is doing a great job for me. I could not be more pleased. where to begin...I certainly like it. The warranty is what sealed the deal for me as opposed to building one piecewise. its too easy to get swept up with all that is good with the bike...the components are all familiar brand names ...there is alot of mass in the back of the bike which generally goes unnoticed...its balance is only an issue when your stopped and think you can steady the bike between your legs alone. the folding aspect is nice...a small gripe, but i would have liked to see the tires line up...its actually quite dificult to lift and store with both tires on because of this misalignment, however; take the front wheel off and it becomes a lot easier to tuck away behind a seat...that said, the bike when folded has a tendency to tear at the front fork with or without the tire removed...i have cut a 1.5in inner tube and use it as a rubber bumper on the front forks...the 8th gear is for promotional purposes only...in 8th gear it feels as if you are working against the motor and probably why my pedals are make clicking noises now. in 7th gear with a pretty brisk cadence leaves you in the 20-22mph zone. which i can tell you is right in the butter zone for beating down on the "lycras"...the claimed range is relative...dont expect to ride it like a moped for 20+miles...but defintely expect to go 28 miles with nearly unrestrained assist with some pedaling...beyond that boils down to conservation and management. i live and ride around hills and mountains consistently going 25 miles with 2000ft hill climbs finishing with some energy to spare. i have ran the battery dead once and pedaling this 68lb thing home without assist will teach you all you need to know about battery management...but alas it was torture and worth noting the "slight resistance" from the motor is a relative term...it wasnt untenable but noticable. the battery gauge is really not functional and isn't of any diagnostic use at all. the power meter on the throttle is helpful in judging how fast your draining the battery but is a matter of interpretation to discern how much energy is left...i have traveled to places i would have never gone to without an e-bike. it really does turn the uphills flat and the flats to downhill...i feel the 500w motor is adequate for the steepest of hill climbs and offers a very good range without asking for a huge expensive battery pack...the battery, rated at 2000 charges is the weak link in every e-bike; nonetheless is covered in the waranty for two years so ride on... i think the prodeco phantom x2 has lived up to and exceeded my expectations and love showing it off...having it turn key ready with a two year end to end warranty leaves it a no brainer as to purchase...if i needed another e-bike; Prodeco is the first place i would look... - Customer Reviews

You can not go wrong with this bike. It is made with top of the line components. It is built rock solid. It looks great and performs even better. Made in the usa. I average 28 miles per charge, using the motor and pedaling. It is fantastic. It comes with a 2 year warranty it you register it with prodeco and you get free brake pads once a year for life. So make sure you register it. I feel this model is the best all around value for the average rider. It has the 9 amp battery and the v300 watt motor is more tan enough. On flat land i get up to 19mph. Check out bike-smiths dealership.
